POSITION: COACHES(S)

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Properly certified;
  2. Knowledgeable in area of assignment;
  3. Preferably experienced and competent in required skills of the assigned sport and/or academic competitions;
  4. Other qualifications determined to be necessary by the Board of Education.

 

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director or Activity Coordinator and/or Individual Elementary School Principals – Immediate Supervisor(s), as assigned and applicable.

 

JOB GOAL: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill and appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship competition and an increased level of self-esteem.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coach/Sponsor individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport of academic competition involved and promote school spirit and pride.
  2. Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season.
  3. Work closely with the Activity Coordinator or Athletic Director and Principal in scheduling practice sessions, intra-mural, inter-scholastic contests and activities.
  4. Will inform Activity Coordinator or Athletic Director of any cancellation of practice sessions, games and/or need or transportation services.
  5. Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as deemed appropriate to the Activity Coordinator or Athletic Director and maintain inventory.
  6. Maintain necessary attendance forms, insurance records and similar paperwork.
  7. Supervise athletes at all times and oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
  8. Establish performance criteria and rules for eligibility including; grades for participation in extra-curricular competitions.
  9. Establish written rules and consequences for social conduct, (enforce rules and consequences) via Athlete’s Agreement and meet with parents of athletes regarding rules and consequences.
  10. Enforce rules, discipline and sportsman like behavior at all times and establish and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
  11. Travel with athletes, assist coaches and/or sponsors To and FROM for supervision purposes, unless other comparable arrangements are made accordingly with the approval of the Athletic Director or Activity Coordinator.
  12. Comply with NMAA Rule and Regulations as well as with School Board Policies.
  13. Actively participate in fund raising activities for meals, lodging, equipment, uniforms, tennis shoes, tee shirts, summer programs and transportation for activities.
