The High School Athletic Director serves as the coordinator and facilitator of the school-level interscholastic athletic programs. Responsible for the facilitation of physical and academic eligibility, a requirement for participation in each sport, and verifies each athletes’ eligibility. Compiles, maintains files, and presents all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required. Ensures that the program complies with local and state practices. This position reports to the Superintendent of Schools. In addition, this position is not allowed to hold any secondary position funded by the athletic department. If a head coaching position becomes vacant during the athletic season and a replacement is not found, the High School Athletic Director will act as the head coach for the remainder of the season. A valid NMPED Administrative license is required to hold this position.
